 Article Abstract:

(Rick Spence) If you need to process data that lives in an Excel spreadsheet, you can get to that data using either automation or ADO. My preference is ADO. If you use automation you incur the overhead and expense of Excel itself, whereas if you use ADO you simply need the driver. ADO drivers have shipped with the operating system since at least Windows 2000 (and free downloads are available for Windows 95 and 98 if you're stuck with one of those dinosaurs).
